About

I can’t tell you who I am. I don’t know, I’ve never known. All I can tell you is where I’ve been and where I am now. Where I’m going is a grey area.

I’m 22 year old university graduate, living ‘at home’ in South Birmingham, UK. My course my no means reflects on my field of expertise and even less so on what I do. I am a food and beverage assisant who wears a bar supervisors shoes for a moderately sized three star hotel. The hours are long, the pay is poor, the job is less than to be desired and everyday I wake up and ask the question, why? and everyday I struggle to come up with an answer. The only thing in my pro’s list is the potential to one day make it in the food and beverage industry - right now I’m thinking my own bar, or at least having managerial control, would be a mighty sweet prospect.

As far as I go, I am very simple. I do not talk alot which is attributed to my lack of ability to think on my feet. Very few people get on well with me.

In my job, there is precious little time to enjoy anything outside the catering industry. Once was a time where I was a frequent ice skater and after many many hours of practice I have become pretty good at it. One foot twirls and everything. In truth, it has been about two months since my blades last touched the ice, although I have some intention of retaking by level 6th course.

My only other passion is Liverpool FC, but even then you’d be hard pushed to say its a passion. I do keep a close eye on the scores and punch the wall when Frank Lampard scores the penalty that never was.

I also like to read and watch good movies on big TVs with loud speakers. I am quite fond of my Peugeot 206 too.

You could claim this website as some sort of hobby. Life in the Grind has long been around but only gathering dust. Web design is like art school for geeks, making pretty pages without so much as picking up a paintbrush, and since noone builds their own sites anymore - they are all based around Wordpress, Typepad, Facebook or Myspace… a weblog is nothing more than a glorified diary - not a work of art or monumentous achievement.
